Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and dark forces expanding in influence within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Revealed

Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise started the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each character has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
  • The adventurer has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.

Future Episodes

According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Schemers parties.

Fans can expect learning which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
